focus on... Peperomia at Systematics 2008 conference The international biological conference Systematics 2008 was held in Göttingen (Germany) 7-11 April. Although the event covered botanical as well as zoological subjects, the genus Peperomia got special attention… The last day of the congress a Piperales workgroup was organised in which James F. Smith (Boise State University, USA) informed the audience about dating the origin of Piper and Peperomia. Lars Symmank (Technische Universität Dresden, Germany) gave a talk about the evolution of terrestrial life forms in the genus Peperomia and Harry T. Horner (Iowa State University, USA) highlighted leaf calcium oxalate crystal macropatterns in Peperomia. In the poster session, attention was drawn to the role of some digital tools (TRGP, PBO, DPP) in current Peperomia research.
