Not to be considered as synonym of Peperomia alpina (Sw.) A.Dietr. as was published by Burger, 1971.
P. durandii is distinct in its particular leaf nervation (the nerves adaxially protruding).
Much of the confusion around this species is due to de Candolle's protologue. He cites 4 syntypes that actually belong to 3 different species!
Tonduz 2005 is the only collection that represents P. durandii and should be considered as the candidate lectotype [Mathieu, 2013, pers.comm.].
