Under Peperomia peruviana, Hill (1907: 171) mentions ‘forma’ major (not ‘varietas’) and he expresses by no means his intention to publish a new name. No ‘nov.’ attribute, nor author name ‘A.W. Hill’ is added as is the case for all new names published elsewhere in that article. Hill cites Hill 183, a collection he made in 1903 and which was identified as P. umbilicata by de Candolle in 1904, and just seems to allude to Dahlstedt’s 1906 annotation on the specimen at K: ‘Seems to be a form of P. peruviana (Miq.) Dahlst.’ The identification in pencil Peperomia peruviana var. major A.W. Hill type no.’ seems to be of more recent date and is probably added based on Yuncker’s 1955 publication. The latter should be considered as the valid publication and the author citation should be ‘Hill ex Yuncker’.
