Peperomia brachystachyos is a new combination for Piper brachystachyon Vahl (Vahl 1805: 354), which, in its turn, was a new name for Peperomia filiformis Ruiz & Pav. This makes Peperomia brachystachya a nomenclatural synonym of Peperomia filiformis.
