Peperomia griggsii resembles Peperomia distachyos (L.) A.Dietr. in general habit and leaf shape & size. In P. griggsii the inflorescences are usually leaf opposed whereas in P. distachyos they usually show an axillary position. However, exceptions appear to occur and this character should be used with caution. P. griggsii is densely pubescent in all its parts (stem, petiole, peduncle, inflorescence bract, both sides of young leaves, abaxially in mature leaves) whereas P. distachyos is a mainly glabrous / glabrescent species.
